Nat Edwards
Nat Edwards is one of Australia’s leading sports broadcasters and event hosts, known for her professionalism, warmth, and commanding on-screen presence across some of the country’s biggest sporting stages.
A key member of the Seven Network’s AFL coverage, Nat has built an impressive career as a presenter, reporter, and host. In 2019, she made television history as the first woman to host AFL Grand Final pre-game coverage on free-to-air television, remarkably taking on the milestone broadcast while 39 weeks pregnant. She has since continued to break new ground, including co-hosting Seven’s The Kick and taking on major live hosting and on-field roles throughout the AFL season and Finals series.
Nat’s passion for Australian Rules football began long before her broadcasting career. She grew up playing the game herself, including being the only girl in her age group at Auskick with the Ashburton Redbacks. After completing a journalism degree at RMIT University, she developed her craft through community football as a writer and radio broadcaster before joining the AFL in 2014 and establishing herself as one of the industry’s most respected sports media professionals.
Proud of her Chinese and Singaporean heritage, Nat grew up with a strong connection to both sides of her family. Her mother, Jessie, was born and raised in Singapore, with family ancestry tracing to China’s Xiamen region, while her father introduced her to the game that would ultimately become her career. Nat also attended Chinese language school and maintained a close cultural connection with her Chinese grandmother. Her multicultural upbringing gives her a particularly valuable perspective on identity, representation, belonging, and the increasingly diverse face of Australian sport.
Her career has also taken that connection full circle, including travelling to Shanghai to cover Port Adelaide’s historic AFL matches in China. For Nat, who once dreamed simply of attending the Brownlow Medal as a woman working within the football industry, her journey represents how significantly opportunities for women and people from diverse backgrounds in Australian sports media have evolved.
Away from the television studio and boundary line, Nat is an accomplished MC, moderator, and corporate event host. Her experience presenting live television and working in unpredictable sporting environments gives her the ability to think quickly, engage an audience, interview guests naturally, and keep an event moving seamlessly.
Whether hosting a major conference, awards night, sporting function, corporate event, or facilitating a panel discussion, Nat combines broadcast-level preparation with an approachable personality and genuine audience connection.
